Description

This one-off Retrovibe RV4 bass dates back to around 2012.It was originally fretted but arrived with too many frets damaged in transit. I immediately decided to make it into a unique fretless so I stripped the frets out and filled the slots with maple strips – then promptly tucked it away in a box and forgot about it. I rediscovered it recently when I moved my workshop and office and finally got round to completing the job!

The set maple neck has a gloss finish and a rosewood fingerboard and the whole bass is now a gorgeous aged-white Tuxedo with appropriate black hardware.
The two MM-style pickups are wired with Peavey T40-style tone controls which allow each to be adjusted between single coil/humbucker/humbucker with roll-off giving a massive range of tones. All the switching and wiring is brand new.

I have strung it with new GHS Precision flats and it looks, plays and sounds fantastic!

It weighs in at around 7.8lbs.
