Who are Retrovibe?
Retrovibe is essentially me, David König. I design and build custom-spec bass guitars, pickups and accessories from my home in Bath, UK.
I started playing bass in my teens and have played, toured and recorded with various artists and original bands over the (many) years since then.
Retrovibe is the trading name for the small business I began in the early 2000s to produce “interesting” bass guitars which incorporate some some of my favourite elements from instruments I loved but had their own unique look.
I source parts and components from a select group of suppliers around the world as well as fabricating some elements myself in my small workshop.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! I have shipped basses to most parts of the world over the years. International shipping rates are changing all the time so my website is set up to show you the relevant shipping cost at the point of checkout.
I always used tracked shipping services and will send you tracking confirmation once your bass is with the relevant courier.
How can I order a custom bass?
Please email me at david@retrovibe.co.uk outlining what kind of build you have in mind. We can then have a discussion about specs and cost.
For custom builds I usually take a deposit of £100 before starting work on your bass. The agreed balance is then payable when your bass is ready to ship out to you.
What string height can I expect on a Retrovibe bass?
My standard setup is around 2.25mm on the E string at the 12th fret and 1.75mm on the G string.
What body finishes are available?
I buy in most of my painted bodies from various selected suppliers as I do not do body paintwork in my home workshop.
I do a range of stained and oiled finishes on natural wood bodies made in my workshop.
