Description

This bass is a one-off, 30″ scale LP bass built on a well-used flame-top, sunburst, mahogany body.

All hardware, electronics etc are brand new apart from the body and neck plate which do show many signs of use and wear. Please study the pictures to see the various dings and scratches. That said, I still think the body is stunning, which is why I chose it for conversion to a bass. The body has a multi-layer binding on the top and bottom and I have echoed this by staining a faux binding onto the new headstock.

The bass has good quality gold tuners, bridge and tailpiece which are all brand new. I’ve fitted a pair of my Thunderbuck pickups which each have individual volume and tone controls. The pickups are selected using a standard, new, gold, 3-way toggle switch. I have used a variation of the Peavey T40 tone wiring to allow the tone pot for each pickup to sweep between full-on single coil tone, into open series humbucker with standard treble roll-off courtesy of Orange drop caps. The term “tone monster” is overused in my opinion, but fully justified here!

It weighs in at around 10.4lbs. and has no neck-dive whatsoever. That’s mahogany for you!

It really is a one-off as I’ve not come across another of these bodies

Please note: I am not a factory, I am one man making and assembling unique parts and basses in my small workshop in Somerset. As such, some of my parts and guitars may have minor construction/tooling marks or scratches as well as the odd fingerprint etc. These are all a result of my artisan processes and although I try to keep such things to a minimum, they can sometimes creep in. If you are not happy with that then you may want to look elsewhere for alternatives. Also, I do my best to use recycled packaging whenever possible so sometimes the packaging may look “unconventional”. Please be assured that it will be completely up to the job of protecting your purchase and that it goes some way to reducing the cost and carbon footprint of my products. Thank you!
